Being physically active may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to cancer care, but it is an important part of an overall treatment plan. Moderate physical activity can improve cancer-related fatigue, lower anxiety and stress, and improve self-esteem and quality of life.

The American Cancer Society recommends the following for those with cancer:

  • Take part in regular physical activity.
  • Avoid inactivity and return to normal daily activities as soon as possible after diagnosis.
  • Aim to exercise at least 150 minutes per week.
  • Include strength training exercises at least 2 days per week.
